Commission-Based Surface Interventions

From site study to installation — a structured collaborative process.

All Gulzoe projects operate on a commission-based model. We do not adapt inventory to fit spaces. We develop surfaces in response to them.

Each commission begins with understanding context — architectural drawings, wall dimensions, lighting conditions, adjacent materials, and intended spatial experience. Proportion and integration are considered before surface articulation begins.

Our process unfolds in structured phases:

• Site and scale evaluation

• Conceptual surface direction

• Material studies and sampling

• Construction and detailing

• Installation coordination

Collaboration with architects and interior designers is central. Surfaces must align with timelines, technical requirements, and overall design narrative.

** “Our structured commissioning methodology is outlined in detail.”

Because each intervention is developed from scratch, lead times vary based on scale and complexity. Projects are scheduled with awareness of site readiness and installation logistics.

Our commissions are intentionally limited in number to maintain depth of involvement and execution quality.

Project scope and scale determine development timelines and investment.

This model ensures coherence, accountability, and longevity.

Studio Notes:

Our structured commissioning methodology is outlined in detail here.

Our broader commission framework, including spatial evaluation and fabrication sequencing, is detailed here.

Commissioning is not a transaction. It is a structured design collaboration.
